> FPG7: SMD fuseholder now with stabilizing posts
SCHURTER now equips its FPG7 shock-safe SMD fuseholder with two stabilizing posts. The added posts extend from the existing front standoffs, providing increased stability during board assembly, and when replacing the fuse. The FPG7 is also the only shock-safe SMD fuseholder on the market for 5x20 mm cartridge fuses.

The trend towards SMD applications continues unabated. In response, SCHURTER already offers a large selection of SMD components such as fuses and fuseholders in its product range. As part of the SCHURTER range, the FPG7offers the only shock-safe SMD fuseholder on the market. The newly added stabilizing posts improve the design, by optimizing the stability of the fuseholder during the mounting and soldering process of the PCB. Further, the stabilizing posts help absorb the axial forces that arise when the fuse is being replaced.

With rated power acceptance of up to 2.5 W at 10 A / 250 VAC according to IEC, combined with rated current of up to 16 A at 400 VAC according to UL/CSA, the FPG7 is the ideal solution for applications requiring primary protection. Overall, the FPG7 is well suited for applications where the following requirements must be met: SMD assembly, compact design, primary protection, and external access to fuses. Specific applications in this regard include industrial and medical equipment as well as household appliances. Depending on the application, the customer can select between two fuse cap options, either a slotted version for screw driver access or fingergrip version.

The FPG7 is manufactured with RoHS-conforming materials that are temperature resistant and designed for reflow soldering processes. These materials today meet the requirements for equipment in unattended operation according to IEC 60335-1 and the intensified glow-wire test requirements according to IEC 60695-2. Furthermore, the FPG7 achieves a protection class of IP40 and a shock-safe category of PC2. The blister tape packaging option enables efficient manufacturing using automatic placement machines. All versions of the FPG7 have VDE and cURus approvals.

With the ESO 10.3x38, SCHURTER introduces a multifunctional fuse cover for use on printed circuit boards. The ESO 10.3x38 can be used simultaneously as an inserter, extractor and cover for fuses. Designed for use with SCHURTER’s CSO fuse clips, and the ASO 10.3x38 fuse, the combination provides touch-safe circuit protection up to 1500 VDC.

The demand for compact components for use on circuit boards is constantly growing, including in solar applications. SCHURTER meets these requirements with its patented ESO 10.3x38. With the ESO 10.3x38, fuses with the 10.3x38 mm format can be simply and securely attached to clips. Upon inserting the ESO 10.3x38 with captive fuse into the fuse clips, the installation provides a touch-safe cover according to IP20 specifications. If the fuse is triggered, then the ESO 10.3x38 can also be used as a fuse removal aid. Additional tools are not required. If the ESO 10.3x38 is used together with SCHURTER’s CSO fuse clips, and the SCHURTER’s ASO 10.3x38 fuse, then these form a fully compatible, safe and cost-effective combination.

In addition to numerous applications in the energy and industrial sectors, the ESO 10.3x38 is particularly suitable for protecting solar applications with rated currents of up to 32 A or rated voltages of up to 1500 VAC/VDC. Specific applications include solar inverters, string fuse boxes and battery charge controllers based on printed circuit boards. Standard terminal markings can also be optionally attached for simple identification of the fuse. When combined with the CSO fuse clip from SCHURTER, the ESO 10.3x38 has cURus certification.

With the SHF 6.3x32, SCHURTER is expanding its range of high-voltage equipment fuses. The high breaking capacity of 1500 A at a rated voltage of 500 VAC opens up many interesting fields of application. The SHF 6.3x32 is available as cartridge or pigtail version.

SCHURTER is offering the equipment fuse SHF 6.3x32 in ten rated currents from 1 to 8 A. The fuse stands out due to its high breaking capacity of 1500 A at a rated voltage of 500 VAC. Besides a wide range of applications in the energy and industrial sectors, the SHF 6.3x32 is especially well suited for the protection of 3-phase systems.

SCHURTER offers the SHF 6.3x32 as cartridge or pigtail version. Cartridge fuses can be used in clips and fuse holders, which allow easy replacement of fuses without de-soldering. SCHURTER offers a broad range of such clips and fuse holders suited for use with the SHF 6.3x32. The pigtail version allows direct assembly on printed circuit boards by means of through-hole technology and soldering.

As a fuse that conforms to RoHS, the SHF 6.3x32 can be put to use in lead-free systems. Its compatibility with competitor products allows SCHURTER to offer the SHF 6.3x32 as a form, fit and function substitute product. The SHF 6.3x32 fuse is cURus approved.

SCHURTER is expanding the successful UMT-H series of SMD fuses with 13 additional rated currents. The expanded series – which covers rated currents between 160 mA and 10 A – will now protect an even broader range of applications. With a rated breaking capacity of 1500 A, this compact SMD fuse is capable of protecting against short circuits, while providing reliable overcurrent protection.

SCHURTER now offers the UMT-H in a total of 19 rated currents between 160 mA and 10 A at voltages up to 277 VAC and 250 VDC. The compact SMD fuse stands out with its high breaking capacity of 1500 A at rated voltage. This key feature, among others, makes the square UMT-H a space saving alternative to classic cylindrically shaped cartridge fuses (e.g. 5x20 mm).

Besides a wide range of applications in power circuits and sensors, the UMT-H is particularly well suited for the primary protection of power supply units rated up to 277 VAC. It is also suitable for use in the protection of single phase industrial appliances. The high breaking capacity of 1500 A, the spacing between the end caps of >10 mm and the ability to be potted also make these devices useful in applications according to IEC 60079-11 that involve explosion protection. Examples include first responder equipment, industrial controls exposed to oil and gas environments, and lighting ballasts.

SCHURTER offers a broad range of high-quality chip fuses, which were developed specially for low-loss and precise overcurrent protection in secondary circuitry. Six different types, available in chip dimensions from 0402 to 1206, offer compact and effective protection in the event of a fault.

The SCHURTER chip fuses are available in a number of different current ratings from 50 mA to 25 A at a rated voltage of up to 125 VAC/VDC. Depending on the version and voltage ratings, a breaking capacity of up to 600 A is reached. Thanks to these impressively high values and variety, these chip fuses can be used in a wide range of applications. Chip fuses are especially suitable for mobile and battery-operated devices in sensor technology and industrial electronics.

SCHURTER chip fuses set themselves apart from comparable products through their extremely precise opening times and minimal power dissipation. In addition, their solid construction makes them especially resistant to vibrations and pulse loads. Furthermore, the SMD contacts, some of which are gold-plated, have a positive influence on the wettability, storage life and electrical quality of the chip fuses.

All SCHURTER chip fuses come with cURus certification. The USI 1206 is additionally VDE-approved, the only chip fuse with this type of certification available in the market. As halogen-free and RoHS-conform fuses, SCHURTER chip fuses can moreover be used for lead-free soldering processes. SCHURTER is expanding its successful UMF 250 SMD fuse series with nine additional rated currents. With this extension, the series is now complete with rated currents ranging from 500 mA to 10 A. The compact, quick-acting SMD fuse thus provides overcurrent and short circuit protection for an even wider range of applications.  

SCHURTER now offers the UMF 250 in a total of 14 rated currents between 500 mA and 10 A. The SMD fuse is well suited for voltages up to 250 VAC and 125 VDC. It features a high breaking capacity of up to 200 A at rated voltage. These features and more make the square-shaped UMF 250 a compact alternative to traditional 5x20 mm cartridge fuses.

The UMF 250 is suited for primary and secondary protection on SMD circuit boards. Applications of the device include, for example, power supplies, medical and lighting equipment as well as electronic devices used in the home and in industry. As a halogen-free fuse that conforms to RoHS, the UMF 250 is compatible with lead-free soldering processes. In addition, it has VDE and cURus approvals. By meeting the internationally recognized IEC 60127-4 standard, the UMF 250 serves as a universal modular fuse (UMF) link for use around the world.

The USFF 1206 thus offers the safe solution for the optimal operation of sensitive electronic systems where such performance is critical. 

With the new 50 mA version of the USFF 1206, SCHURTER is offering a true market innovation. The surface mount chip fuse sets itself apart from standard commercial products through a lower voltage loss and an exact opening time. The wire-bonding technology used in the USFF 1206 allows stable, reliable operation at ambient temperatures from -55°C to 90°C, making it ideal for protection of applications such as in sensors, ICs, and batteries. When it comes to household appliances used in unattended operation, the provisions of standard IEC 60335-1 have in the past few years placed higher requirements regarding glow-wire ignition temperature (GWIT). These more stringent requirements thus also apply to installed components such as power sockets, fuse holders and connectors. For this reason, all components carrying current must meet the requirements of glow-wire tests as specified in IEC 60695-2-12 and -13.

As a leading producer of fuse holders and power sockets, SCHURTER manufacturers a large number of products made of plastic materials with high glow-wire ratings. These are above all shock-safe fuse holders in the successful FPG series, which are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes as well as fuse blocks for assembly on circuit boards. SCHURTER, the leading provider of fuse holders, is expanding its range to include a fuse clip designed for heavy duty performance. The CSO clip, designed for 10.3 mm diameter fuses, is suitable for applications with voltages up to 1500 VAC/VDC and currents to 32A. These unique characteristics are SCHURTER’s response to the present need for increasing photovoltaic system voltages.

The CSO clip is available in solder and screw/rivet versions. The solder version allows direct mounting on a printed circuit board by means of through-hole technology. The screw/rivet version provides additional flexibility for basic designs. Due to the special copper alloy both versions are characterized by a strong clamping force resulting in minimal power loss.

The CSO fuse clip is ideal for a wide range of PV and other DC applications including inverters, battery charge controllers, and string fuse holders. Furthermore, the CSO is well suited for applications in the e-mobility and industrial electronics sectors. The fuse clip conforms to RoHS specifications and is currently the only photovoltaic clip on the market with cURus approval.

SCHURTER also offers the ASO 10.3x38 PV fuse to fit the new CSO fuse clip. The fuse clip also supports other fuses with a 10.3 mm diameter of any length. This includes, for instance, 10.3x85 mm fuses for higher voltages.
