Change in Management: New CEO for the SCHURTER Group

Hans-Rudolf Schurter (65) has successfully served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SCHURTER Group, Lucerne, for almost 30 years, and on January 1, 2015, he is transferring his responsibilities to Ralph Müller (45). With this, for the first time in the more than 80 years of company history, operative management of this manufacturer of electronic components is being placed in the hands of someone outside the family.

Müller has been with SCHURTER for ten years. He began his professional career with an apprenticeship as a mechanic, studying then at the Technical College of Zurich to earn a degree in mechanical engineering, thereafter post-graduate studies leading to a degree in business administration and finally an executive MBA. In 2014 he completed in-depth management education at the renowned Stanford University in California. From 1990 to 2003 he worked in various functions where he gained extensive experience in general management and in managing the production of electronic components. In 2004 he joined the SCHURTER family as Head of Production. Five years ago he took over executive management as CEO of our founding company SCHURTER AG in Lucerne. Commenting on assuming the role as overall head of this Group, with a total of 18 Group companies in 16 countries (and of them 10 being production operations, including in Switzerland), Müller says, "I am thankful and proud that this trust has been placed in me, and I look forward to taking on the challenges we will face in the future. Our management principles – based on role models, trust, responsibility, change and connections – will help me to drive the company ahead even further following the values of the founding family".

Mr. Schurter is stepping down from operational activities due to his age, but even so the family business will retain his extensive expertise and his network of contacts in his role as Chairman of the Board. As regards the naming of his successor, Mr. Schurter comments, "After a very detailed evaluation process, we found an excellent in-house solution for my successor in the person of Ralph Müller." In addition, the Chairman of the Board emphasizes the importance of consistently following the future strategy that has been initiated, stating, "With the establishment of the Solutions Division, the cross-integration of all core areas of expertise will result in the ability to address the most challenging customer requirements". In addition, the SCHURTER Group's most recent acquisition was Danielson Europe B.V., which represents a bold move into a new market. The goal is and remains to achieve sustainable growth in a wide-ranging business environment. Müller along with his total of 1600 employees will now take on this responsibility in Switzerland and abroad, according to SCHURTER.
