European Championship gold and European record for the Swiss rower Lucas Tramèr, Simon Niepmann, Mario Gyr and Simon Schürch

The lightweight men’s four with Simon Niepmann, Lucas Tramèr, Mario Gyr and Simon Schürch showed a sensational performance in the race in the finals of the European Championships in Poznan (Poland) on Sunday, and were rewarded with the European title and the new European best time.

Simon Niepmann (Seeclub Zurich / Basel Rowing Club), Lucas Tramèr (Club d'Aviron Vésenaz / Basel Rowing Club), Mario Gyr (Seeclub Lucerne) and Simon Schürch (Seeclub Sursee) claimed Sunday's final as a great moment in the Swiss Rowing history. In a race which was noted by the rapid start of the French, the four Swiss rowed a consistent race in the inside lane in which they showed off their class in the second half of the course. At half way lying in second position, they took the lead and built on this constantly and crossed the finish line with almost a boat length ahead of France and Denmark. In the end, they even managed to set a new European best time. For Niepmann / Tramèr it is the third European gold medal in a row after winning the lightweight men's pair in 2012 and 2013.

SCHURTER AG extends its congratulations to the athletes and is delighted to continue supporting Swiss rowing in the future.
