IEC appliance inlet GSP4 for print circuit boards
|
SCHURTER has developed a new 16 A appliance inlet for efficient mounting. Designed for print circuit board mounting, the appliance inlet can be easily sandwiched between split enclosures and tested before it is installed in the equipment. Stabilizing posts provide quick snap-in assembly to the PCB. A version with screw mount stabilizers is also available.
The new IEC appliance inlet GSP4 from SCHURTER offers a compact solution for IEC C20 inlets used in applications where power components are board mounted. Equipped with print circuit board terminals for L, N & E, and a 6.3 x 0.8 mm quick connect or solder tab for additional ground to chassis, the GSP4 can be securely snapped-in or screwed-on to a print circuit board before soldering. This is achieved by means of robust stabilizing posts, which also serve to absorb withdrawal and insertion force. Rear mount styles are also available with or without mounting ears. An optional back-side cover for the appliance inlet is available for protection against accidental contact. The inlet is compatible with V-Lock cordsets. The V-Lock retaining system provides a safe and secure power connection by preventing unintentional disconnection of the power cord from the inlet. The GSP4 can also be delivered in Protection Class II, that is as an IEC C24 type socket. SCHURTER's GSP2 IEC C14, 10 A model, offers the same advantages and is proven itself on the market over many years.
The GSP4 is approved to IEC 60320 by ENEC and CCC for 16 A / 250 VAC, by UL for 20 A / 250 VAC and by CSA for 18 A / 250 VAC. These appliance inlets are suited for applications according to IEC/EN 60950 and fulfill the enhanced glow-wire test requirements for equipments according to IEC 60335-1. They provide excellent features in power supplies, IT equipment, medical electrical equipment, lighting systems as well as test and measurement systems.

> V-Lock Locking System for the IEC-Appliance couplers
|
This V-Lock system by SCHURTER is an attractive and simple solution to prevent an unintentional unplugging. Various different connectors, Power Entry Modules and several country-specific power cables are available with this option.
The V-Lock locking system can be used for 10A and 16A power inlets and connectors according to IEC 60320. This system works in such a way that there is a pin in the socket, interlocking with a notch in the plug and thus prevents an unintentional pullout of the power cable. The advantage of this system is that there is no need for a specific socket system or retaining device that has to be adapted and built-in.
The locking is released by pressing on the releasing lever. This lever is easily detected by its bright yellow colour and thus distinguishes this system from existing power cable connections. The extraction force is a minimum of 200 N. Typical applications are in medical appliances, analysis and laboratory instruments, Telecom and IT- devices, power distribution or radio and TV-studios.

6610: IEC outlet with IDC terminals speeds assembly for power distribution units
|
SCHURTER’s 6610 appliance outlet, which is the first of its kind to utilize IDC technology, is now available with IDC terminals for 14 AWG/1.5 mm2 in addition to the existing version for 12 AWG/2.5 mm2. The new option allows for smaller diameter wire and thus less costly wiring in lighter duty applications.
Series 6610 is ideal for use in power distribution units and other equipment where multiple outlets are banked in series. Unlike traditional outlets, which require wiring of individual quick connect or solder terminals, the 6610 with IDC technology allows wires to be bussed across the terminals, thereby connecting common terminals all at once. The IDC terminals are arranged either along or across the connector pin axis, allowing for a horizontal or vertical mounting orientation. Wires are pressed into place with the protective back cover. Versions with combination IDC and a quick-connect or solder terminal, for separate wiring of the line connection, are also available.
The 6610 outlet is newly offered with the V-Lock notch intended for use with a mating cordset that latches into the outlet to prevent unintentional disconnection from the power. The outlet is F style according to IEC 60320. The snap-in unit fits panels which have a thickness of bet¬ween 0.8 mm and 3 mm. It is approved by cURus at 15 A at 250 VAC and ENEC at 10 A/250 VAC, and is qualified for applications in accordance with IEC/EN 60950.

DD21 and DD22 series provide maximum functionality within minimum dimensions
SCHURTER's new series DD21 and DD22 power entry modules have been conceptually designed for PCB mounting. The DD21 product is equipped with multiple functions including inlet connector, switching and fusing. In addition, the DD22 series offers standard or medical filter versions. The compact design of this series makes them ideally suited for use in low profile designs, especially 1RU enclosures for 19" racks, and other IT and telecom infrastructures where equipment is continually downsized.
The DD series can be equipped with 1- or 2-pole fuseholders for 5 x 20 mm fuse-links. The 2-pole switch, which is designed for inrush current peaks of 100 A capacitive for 3 ms, is available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions. The DD21 is rated for currents at 8 and 10 A, while DD22 series is rated for currents at 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 A. The power entry modules fulfill IEC/EN 60950 requirements and are ENEC and UL/CSA approved up to 10 A 250 VAC 50 Hz and 8 A 125/250 VAC 60 Hz respectively. Special configurations such as protection class II (IEC 61140) arrangements or filters with special X1 capacitors for increased dielectric strength are available.
The DD series uses M3 or self-tapping screws for mounting onto a PCB or M3 screws for mounting from the rear of the housing. The compact series requires minimal space having a board footprint of 65 mm wide by 34.6 mm deep, and panel cutout of 28.1 mm x 47.1 mm. Applications for this product include industrial PCs, digital audio applications, network routers, analog televisions and battery charging equipment. Delivery is stock to six weeks.

SCHURTER introduces hospital grade V-Lock cordsets
|
V-Lock cordsets protect against unintended disconnection of medical equipment
SCHURTER expands on its standard range of V-Lock power cords to include two types designed to ensure patient safety in critical medical and dental applications. The plug end of the cordset is stamped with a green dot, indicating that it meets the rigors of UL 817 testing. The solid pin construction and extra-safe wiring are visible through the plug’s transparent material.
The V-Lock system is an already proven design for safe and reliable power connection, protecting against accidental disconnection of the power cord from the equipment. The cord connector has a lever that latches into a notched power inlet. It is removed from the inlet when the lever is depressed and the catch mechanism released. The make-first and break-last design of the ground contact is inherent to its safe design.
The detachable hospital grade power cords are offered with EN/IEC 60320 C13 and C19, 10 and 16 A respectively, cord connectors on the equipment end, and NEMA 5-15 on the plug end. The power cord with the C13 cord connector and SJT 3x16 AWG cable, is rated 13 A/125 VAC. The power cord with the C19 cord connector and SJT 3x14 AWG cable, is rated 15 A/125 VAC. The power cord cable is white and measures 10 feet, or 3 meters, in length. The new power cords are compatible with a host of SCHURTER C14 and C20 style appliance couplers and power entry modules, including the most popular types used in medical applications. The V-Lock hospital grade power cords are UL listed and CSA approved.
