SCHURTER’s TA35 series introduces a new generation of Circuit Breakers for Equipment. The breakers are available in 1-, 2- or 3-pole arrangements and stand out through their compact form and attractive design. The rocker-actuating switch can be supplied either with or without illumination, in several colors including the popular blue and with various legends or customer specific symbols. The breakers have been designed for efficient snap-in mounting, fitting panel thicknesses ranging from 1 to 4 mm. Connections are made with 6.3 x 0.8 mm quick connect terminals.
The TA35 provides both the function of a switch as well as thermal overload protection. It has finely graduated rated currents of 0.05 A to 20 A for the 1- and 2-pole types, or 0.05 A to 12 A for 3-pole versions. An optional protective cover gives a protection class of IP 65, making the unit suitable for applications exposed to dust or splashing water. Typical applications are laboratory equipment for chemical and medical applications, wood and masonry processing machines, construction site equipment, power generators, cleaning equipment, food-processing equipment and appliances.
The circuit breaker is approved according to IEC 60934, UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 235 and carries VDE and cURus. For further information or samples, please contact www.schurter.com.
Schurter's new T9 series circuit breaker for equipment is free from lead and other hazardous materials as outlined by the European Union's Restriction on the Use of Hazardous Substance (RoHS). The new design is equipped with the same proven features, such as fuseholder body style, snap-in mounting (5/8" or 16mm diameter hole), and push-to-reset button. Its tripping operation is (cycling) trip-free.
Fuseholder style circuit breakers are ideal substitutes for panel fuses where inrush currents cause nuisance trips, or aging of the fusing element overtime. Resetting the circuit can avoid unnecessary downtime and maintenance costs associated with replacing fuses. Improper replacement with the wrong current rating is also prevented. The circuit breaker button extends to indicate when the circuit is interrupted. The button returns to depressed status when pushed-to-reset. The ampere rating is clearly visible on the face.
Typical applications include lighting, power tools, industrial appliances, medical diagnostic appliances, sports and hobby machinery, HVAC. The Schurter T9 series meets UL standard 1077 for Supplementary Protection, CSA C22.2.235, EN 60934 and GB 17701. cURus, VDE and CCC approvals are pending. Current ratings range from 5-16 Amps at 240 Volts AC and 5-8 Amps at 48 Volts DC, 10-16 Amps at 32 Volts DC. Terminals are ¼" or 6.3 mm quick-disconnect.
The AC versions of the AS168X (trip characteristics F, G and H) can also be used now in the current range from 0.5 to 30 A as Manual Motor Controllers for direct control of motors connected across-the-line (direct-on-line). We fulfill the requirements of
UL 508 and CSA 22.2 No.14 for the application as Manual Motor Controller intended for use as a Motor disconnect. The approvals of UL 1077, CSA 22.2 No.235 and EN 60950 remain valid. The AS168X can be used thus as a Circuit Breaker of Equipment (CBE) or as a Manual Motor Controller (MMC).
The new approbation as Manual Motor Controller means:
- suitable as Motor Overload Protection (thermal and magnetic)
- suitable as Motor Starting across-the-line (direct-on-line)
- suitable as Motor Starting with Motor disconnect
(cos phi 0.4 - 0.5)
- suitable as Motor Group Installation (short circuit capacity 5 kA)
- suitable for Control Circuits
In order to derive the rated current of the AS168X from a motor capacity, the approval includes a HP?Rating (Horsepower).
