> Finally, a simple solution for gigahertz applications
5150 – First of its kind filtered IEC inlet performs at high frequencies up to 1 GHz and beyond, using X2Y® technology

SCHURTER presents a breakthrough product, providing simple and universal EMC for high frequency applications, using X2Y® filter technology. Series 5150 possesses broadband suppression properties to 1 GHz and combines them with the most simple and universal power input. This integrated and compact design provides an easy, safe and cost effective alternative to existing market solutions and opens new opportunities in the filtering of high frequencies.

The SCHURTER 5150 series extends the application range of X2Y® filter technology from its origin in EMI protection of DC circuits into the area of AC power input. This filter technology combines the X and Y capacitors used in a typical mains filter into one component. The leads connecting the capacitors are thereby eliminated and parasitic impedances are reduced to a minimum. This results in broadband suppression into high frequency ranges.

The component is equipped with a C14 IEC connector. The double shielding between the X2Y® filter and filter casing, together with the broad metal flange can serve as an alternative for feed-through and multi-stage filters. Application examples include equipment for measure-ment engineering, data encryption, medical engineering, IT and telecommunications.

The compact package is designed for front- or rear-side mounting and meets rated currents requirements of up to 10A / 15A. For medical applications, SCHURTER has a version with reduced leakage current. The series has ENEC and cURus approvals, and is suitable for office and medical applications in accordance with IEC/EN 60950 and/or 60601-1.

> Power Entry Module Offers Maximum Functionality with Minimal Dimensions

DD series is most compact power entry design for safe power input

Schurter announced today the new DD11 and DD12 power entry modules as an extension to their existing snap-in and pcb mount counterparts. The new addition with mounting flange is offered for applications requiring screw mounting to the panel.

The DD series provides up to four functions packed into a 49 x 30 mm space saving package. The additional mounting flange supports horizontal mounting, thereby optimizing space while providing maximum functionality. The inlet portion of the unit (according to IEC 60320-1, style C14 or C18), integrates a fuseholder, switch and optional standard or medical EMC filter.

The DD series is especially suited for medical applications, designed to comply with IEC 60601-2. The fusedrawers are offered as 1 or 2-pole and accept 5 x 20mm fuses. An extra-safe feature prevents users from removing the fusedrawer while the power cord is plugged into the equipment. The medical filter limits leakage current to 5 or 80 uA respectively. The M80 version provides increased attenuation of electro-magnetic interference, yet still meets the leakage requirements for non-patient contact devices. The 2-pole switch offers an inrush current peak of 100 A capacitive for 3 ms and is available in both illuminated and non-illuminated versions.

The series is rated for currents up to 8 A at 125 VAC 60 Hz by UL/CSA, and 10 A at 250 VAC 50 Hz by IEC/EN. It is also suited for use in applications as described in IEC 60950, such as measurement, office, security and data communications equipment. The compact design makes it ideally suited for use in low profile designs, especially 1RU enclosures for 19" racks, and IT and telecom infrastructures where equipment is continually downsized. Delivery is stock to 6 weeks.

> Schurter Adds "Snap-in" Power Entry Module
Space saving, compact design speeds assembly

Schurter announced today the new KFA snap-in power entry module as an adjunct to its popular screw mount counterpart. The elimination of mounting holes on the snap-in unit saves space and speeds assembly. The snapper design universally supports a range of panel thicknesses from 0.8 mm to 3.0 mm.

The KFA snap-in provides up to three functions, including an inlet, 1- or 2-pole shock-safe fusedrawer and EMC filter. The integrated unit provides a high performing, compact system for 1U devices where the load must be protected against overcurrent at the power source.

While the KFA series can be used in a variety of applications, it is especially suited for medical applications according to IEC 60601-2. The fusedrawers are offered as 1-pole, 2-pole, 1-pole with a spare fuse compartment, or 2-pole with a shorting bar in the neutral side. The 2-pole version provides additional safety by protecting both sides of the line - important when a non-polarized cordset is used. The fusedrawer is available in a finger-grip or extra-safe version. The extra-safe feature prohibits users from removing the fusedrawer while the power cord is plugged into the equipment. Standard or medical line filters are offered for rated currents of 1, 2, 4, 6 and 10 A. The medical filters, types M5 or M80, limit leakage current to 5 or 80 µA respectively. The M80 version provides increased attenuation of electro-magnetic interference, yet still meets the leakage requirements for non-patient contact devices.

The KFA is approved for 1-10 A at 125/250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, according to UL/CSA () and IEC/EN (). The series is also suited for use in applications as described in IEC 60950, such as measurement, office, security, data communication or similar industrial applications.

> Schurter announces "snap-in" power line filter with 20A rating

Schurter recently added a snap-in version of its filtered AC connector designed for use in power supplies rated up to 20Amps at 125 Volts (16A/250V). The compact, integrated unit is designed to improve filter performance in applications with higher power demands.

The AC inlet is designed according to IEC 320-1, type C20, and is combined with a standard or medical grade filter. The combination supplants discrete block filters that are rated between 15-20 Amps. Attenuation is improved by eliminating the bulky wires between the connector and the filter. A better direct path to ground is also achieved. The filter is available with a typical surge withstand (>2.5 kV, L-N), or with added surge capability (>4 kV, L-N).

The C20F is ideally suited for power supplies and distribution units with power ratings up to 3500 Watts. Applications include information technology according to IEC/EN 60950 and medical equipment according to IEC/EN 60601. The C20F is also suited for general industrial applications that would benefit from the convenience of a removable cord.

The new EC12 is the completion to the already in December 2001 launched EC11.Applications include higher power consuming equipment, like CAD systems, office automation equipment, industrial workstations, base stations, bar coding equipment, and power supplies.
